Is there internet access at Camp? Yes. We have internet access in our staff lounge. This is made available to staff during their time off throughout the summer. Are there phones available for staff use? Yes. There are payphones available for staff use in the playhouse. Can I receive calls at camp? Staff can get phone messages at camp but will not be called out of a program for phone calls. The main office will take messages. The number of the main office is (603)-253-9200 mainland 603-253-9273 island. Can I purchase and use phone cards at Camp? Yes. We sell phone cards at camp at specified times each day, usually around meal times. The cost of each card is $20.00. How do I get paid while at camp? You will be able to take cash advances every two weeks during the summer. The remainder of your pay as well as your bonus and travel allowance if applicable will be given in a check at the end of the summer. How do I cash my paycheck at the end of the summer? Camp will cash your final paycheck for you at the end of the summer, however this is your choice to cash your check or not. Can I get money other than every two weeks? No! What do I do with my valuables while at camp? Everyone is encouraged to keep valuables (passports, money, wallets etc.) in the office safe during the summer. Access to the safe is available at specified times during the day. These times are posted at the main office. How do I get to camp? You can drive. Check MapQuest (www.mapquest.com) for directions. You can fly! The nearest airports are Manchester Airport (Manchester, New Hampshire) and Boston Logan (Boston, Massachusetts). We can arrange for rides from these airports. Please call or email us to help out. You can take a bus from New York City and Boston. From New York you can take the Greyhound Bus Line (www.greyhound.com/800-229-9424). From Boston take Concord Trailways (www.concordtrailways.com/800-639-3317). We also have a camp provided bus departing from NYC on June 22nd at 11:00am from the Columbia University, 116th Street and Amsterdam Avenue, New York City, (212)-932-2300. All Bunac/CCUSA staff will be taking this bus. Other staff members interested in taking this bus, please contact us asap! What about transportation after camp? We will help you get to the bus station or the airport to catch a flight after camp. How do I notify you of my travel plans? It is very important that you inform us via telephone or email of your finalized arrangements. What do I do if I have any questions? During the day at camp the weather is usually in the in the 80's(Fahrenheit) Or mid 20's (Celsius). The nights can get cold in the beginning and toward the end of camp. Do I need to bring blankets and sheets? Staff coming from the U.S and Canada need to bring their own sheets and blankets. Overseas staff will be provided with sheets and blankets. Where will I be living at camp? Most of our staff live in the cabins with campers. Program heads and some other key staff live apart from the campers. What do I pack for Camp? Bring tee shirts, shorts, bathing suits, sneaks/cleats and any athletic equipment needed to teach your specific sport. Foreign Staff How do I get my CampGroup J-1 Work Visa? Go to the Camp Winaukee Website staff forms and information section, click on J-1 Visa packet and download J-1 Visa application packet. Fill out information and submit as soon as possible. Other agencies take care of the visa process for their applicants. How about insurance while at camp? The Visa packet includes an insurance form to be sent in with the Visa application. What does it cost for the Visa and insurance? The cost for the Visa and insurance for foreign staff only is $150.00 U.S this is taken out of your check at the end of the summer. Do I have to take the insurance offered through Camp Group? YES! All foreign staff who get a J-1 Visa from CampGroup must have this insurance or insurance offered through their placement agency. |
